HAKI EDGE SELECTED TO SAFEGUARD CENTRAL BANK OF IRELAND

HAKI Edge Selected to Safeguard Central Bank of Ireland New Headquarters in Dublin Project

HAKI Edge is delighted to have been chosen to provide essential workzone safety equipment to one of Europe’s most anticipated urban developments; Dublin’s Docklands. In particular, HAKI Edge is playing a key part in securing the construction of the Central Bank of Ireland’s new headquarters.

Dublin’s Docklands is undergoing extensive redevelopment, with many major structural works underway or nearing completion. This includes the bank’s headquarters, which consist of both refurbished and new building works. Alongside this are offices and apartment accommodation, ranging in height from 6 to 11 stories above a double level basement.

HAKI Edge has provided a range of specialist workzone safety equipment to the project, including full height edge protection and access stairways. Due to the scale of the project, there were rising concerns over debris falling from the towering building, heightened by strong winds blowing across the exposed quay area. This resulted in a stringent on-site specification and vertemax™ being selected as the workzone safety specialist.

Like all sites, a key focus has been on providing safe movement throughout the site and secure access for all trades.  For those working at height, the edge protection in place delivers reassuring and necessary safety. This includes protection over and above handrails, and toe-boards covering exposed edges which adjoin the Luas Light Rail System that services the area.

Due to the challenging windy conditions, HAKI Edge Catchfans have been installed, delivering improved containment where high-rise collective protection is essential for the safety of workers and the general public.  Easily installed, the Catchfans have been fitted to the perimeter of buildings and scaffolding ready to catch falling objects, debris and material, thus preventing damage or injury to people or property.

About The Project

The extraordinary Central Bank of Ireland headquarters will stand at over 8 storeys tall and will have a total area of approximately 29,000m2.  It is being built with a design inspired by a number of key principles, including:

Creating a workplace which brings all city centre staff together.

Maximising the opportunities for collaboration and sharing.

Addressing environmental challenges.

Achieving very high energy and sustainability targets.

Contributing to the architectural skyline of the city and the quay.

Reflecting the distinct and civic nature of the organization.

On completion, the development will provide exemplary office space in a central location and ancillary facilities to over 1,500 employees. The Central Bank of Dublin is the first building in Ireland to achieve the Building Research Establishment’s Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) ‘Outstanding’ rating at the design stage. The building has been shortlisted for a number of awards including the Green Awards 2017 and Sustainable Energy Award Winners 2016.
